“Rudolf Carnap digital: The Complete Works of a Pioneer of Modern Philosophy.”
The Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities is funding the long-term project “Rudolf Carnap digital: The Complete Works of a Pioneer of Modern Philosophy.”
For the first time, the full corpus of Rudolf Carnap’s work (1891–1970) — his writings, diaries, and roughly 10,000 letters — will be digitally curated and critically edited. The project will produce a scholarly complete edition as well as an open-access platform that also makes Carnap’s logical derivations available as digital mathematical objects. This will open up entirely new avenues for studying the work of a key figure of the Vienna Circle and a founder of analytic philosophy.
The 25-year project is led by Hannes Leitgeb and Stephan Hartmann.
